As I mentioned in my last post, to commemorate the sinking of the Titanic one hundred years ago, the surviving relatives are all embarking on a suspiciously similar sounding cruise ship, destined for the site of the original sinking. While this may be a mind-blowing and moronic concept, it will at least pave the way for something of interest.
Titanic 2; wherein the descendants of Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet will surprisingly find themselves in the exact same situation as their late ancestors. Complete with passionate romance, dramatic conflicts, and inevitable death.
I see Nicolas Cage as the weary conspiracy theorist who sneaks onto the boat because no one believes the evil plot that he’s uncovered, John Malkovich can play the violent madman, dead-set on piloting an artificial iceberg into the doomed cruiser unless he receives a staggering ransom from the government, and Ian McKellen rounds out the cast as the kindly ship captain, certain that nothing bad will happen under his watchful eyes.
Expect cameos from DiCaprio and Winslet, and of course a few scenes wherein Chris Rock portrays a passenger who “can’t believe this shit“, Steve Buscemi as the lonely man, ready to accept his oncoming death, and featuring Paris Hilton as the first drown victim.
